Life After the ICU - Saving a Home for the Patient's Return

Donation protected
This is Shannon. He is a talented artist, a big brother to 3 siblings, he's devoted to his fiance, and he's my amazing son. He is currently in a Denver metro ICU fighting for his life. He is in his mid 20s and suffered an unexpected trauma that will forever change his remaining days.

On the night before Halloween, Shannon developed a headache that led to vomiting and then facial paralysis(stroke) just after midnight. His fiance quickly called 911 and he was taken to the emergency room where he suddenly went into cardiac arrest multiple times over a 5 hour period. Unaware of the cause of the heart attacks at such a young age, an extensive team of doctors had to place him on multiple life saving machines. His heart, lungs, and kidneys were failing fast. After inducing coma and an operation to attach an ECMO machine , IV fluids, and ventilator, he was stabilized and transported to the intensive care unit as the hospitals top priority patient.

The Fight for Life: Shannon's current condition is extremely critical and his doctors face new challenges at every turn. His kidneys have greatly improved but his lungs have now developed pneumonia from being on the ventilator in the ICU and his heart only functions at 20%. After two days of using the ECMO machine, an attempt to wean him off it was near fatal. He remains on the ECMO and under heavy sedation and surveillance 24/7.

Since being admitted into the ICU, working is not an option. His employer has kindly guaranteed the security of his employment whenever he is able to return. At minimum it would be months before he can work and monthly expenses will continue to add up.

The Goal: No amount of money can change his condition. That will be up to the doctors and him. The goal is to prevent the eviction from his apartment and make sure that his monthly bills are paid so he has a home to return to and groceries stocked.

Any donation is a blessing and greatly appreciated, no matter the amount. A few dollars could be the difference between a meal, shelter, or gas for upcoming appointments.

It's understandable if a donation is not possible because these are financially tough times in the world's current state, please share this fundraiser. Every share is equally valuable as any financial donation. You never know how far or who it can reach.

I've seen the kindness of communities and strangers change lives. I'm hoping it can save this one.

Updates will be provided as often as possible and after any possible ICU discharge so those that care can be involved in his recovery.

Any funding will be used to cover the following:
  • Rent $1189 monthly
  • Auto insurance $116 monthly
  • Electricity and gas $90 monthly
  • Cell phone service $25 monthly
  • Any prescriptions $

Even though I am trying to remain positive, hopeful, and trust modern medicine, the truth is his future is not guaranteed. If Shannon does not survive the upcoming critical days or weeks, all funds will be used for his service/memorial.

I could never fully show my gratitude towards anyone that has the ability to help and does so. Any parent can understand the fear of seeing your child on the verge of dying at any minute. Any parent would do anything in their power to prevent losing their child, no matter how old the child may be.

I'm seeking the help from anyone to ease the burden and reduce the mental and financial stress that comes after leaving the hospital alive.
