Life After Cancer; Surrogacy
Donation protected
In October 2019, I was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast Cancer. This diagnosis was earth shattering. It came at a time that Sam and I were just attempting to start our family. I had come off my birth control and was excited to have pain in my breast because it obviously meant I was ovulating… how wrong I was. In my first meeting with my super star oncologist, I learned I would never be able to carry our children. More so than the cancer diagnosis, hearing I could not carry children almost tore me apart.
On the day I went to meet with our fertility specialist I got my first period in 10 years. We took that as a sign from God and moved forward with fertility treatments. We were able to harvest 25 eggs, with five of them being viable embryos. I cried a lot in the two weeks we did the fertility treatments, and I cry as I write this. This was absolutely not our plan and my tears are for grief but also hope. This is our chance to become parents to our own children and continue a family legacy.
When we started this process, we were told we'd most likely match with surrogate candidate in 6-12 months giving us time to save money to pay the necessary expenses...
God had a different plan! Within one week we already have a potential surrogate candidate! I am so grateful for this news however, all the sudden Sam and I must raise funds QUICKLY in order to move forward... or risk losing our surrogate candidate.
We are asking for your help to create a new life and invest in the future. If you prefer to pay with venmo instead to avoid the card fees: @annamariagrace
