Liesl's Funding! You all did it!!! Thank You!!

Hi, my name is Liesl Cope-Schaeffer, and I am raising money to go to the Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals in the Jr. Nationals division for Nordic skiing. I am 16 years old, and this was my first year competing in the Junior National Qualifier races (which are separate from the High School team races). I started skiing on the Duluth East School team in 7th grade, and discovered that I love ski racing! These JNQ races were another way to have fun, race new distances and against new people. I went into this year without any expectations, and I am thrilled to have earned a spot on the team heading to Canada in mid-March. We will be spending a week in Thunder Bay doing four different ski races- a 7.5k skate race, a skate sprint race, a team classic sprint relay, and a 15k classic race. I am super excited for this experience, and I hope to meet and become friends with the other skiers on the team, as well as skiers from the Canadian teams. It is also super cool that I am representing the United States in an International Competition!

I am already so grateful for all of the time, money, and energy that my family has put in to buy me ski equipment and get me get to these events. I can't wait to get to Canada and put all of the hard work into action.

As much as I am looking forward to this trip, I realize that it is also quite expensive. Paying for a hotel, food, coaching, team uniforms, and travel adds up. The total trip cost is about $2,400. Any donations would be very helpful and appreciated! And all of the races will be live-streamed, so after supporting me, you can watch me race from home!

Any extra money donated after my goal is reached will go to my other teammates who are going to Junior Nationals.
