Hi, my name is Licia, and I’m reaching out from Texas. I’ve been diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF) — a condition that has deeply affected my ability to live, work, and care for myself. After a long road of testing and treatment, I’ve now been approved for a heart transplant — a life-saving step that gives me hope for a future.

My Story

Heart disease runs in my family — my grandmother, mother, and aunts all suffered from heart failure. Now I’m walking that same difficult path.

Lately, even the simplest parts of daily life have become impossible. I need help with nearly everything — showering, brushing my teeth, cooking, even basic cleaning. My body is tired. My heart is failing. But I’m holding on with everything I have.

To make things even harder, I was recently laid off from my job at Microsoft. Losing my income while facing a major medical crisis has left me overwhelmed and vulnerable.

While I do have insurance, this is switching to COBRA coverage. I’m facing a long journey of pre- and post-transplant care, and the costs are astronomical. I have multiple doctor visits and hospitalizations and even transportation has become an issue. I no longer drive.
