Who I am

I’m Petra Jordan, a Slovak singer-songwriter living in the Netherlands. With family and friends in Slovakia, I can’t ignore the war next door in Ukraine. And as a world citizen, I can’t ignore the genocide in Palestine.

100% of net donations will go to the relief efforts:
50% to Ukraine
50% to Palestine
via the International Rescue Committee. Remember, your donations are tax deductible!

Why this campaign
My new single License for the Truth was born from a moment when someone tried to force their opinion on me, and I thought: “Do you have a license for the truth?” Every war begins with that same thought: “I’m right, you’re wrong.”

The song is about disarming hostility by learning to agree to disagree, instead of turning differences into hate that can escalate into war. It’s not the whole solution, but it’s one step toward reducing division and refusing to fuel the conflicts that politics thrive on.

Online and offline, outrage is easy, and algorithms reward polarization. Justice matters, and leaders who commit war crimes (Putin, Netanyahu...) must be held accountable. But clinging to rage is like "drinking poison meant for your enemy". Instead of revenge, I want to channel that anger into protection, relief, and rebuilding - through this campaign.

Transparency: I will transfer the money raised up once a month to the IRC - 50% to efforts connected with Ukraine and 50% with Palestine.

Fees: GoFundMe/payment processing fees are deducted automatically; the remainder goes to IRC.

How is the IRC helping people in Ukraine and Palestine?

IRC in Ukraine:
"In Ukraine, we are focusing our assistance in the areas most heavily affected by the war. Together with our local partners, we are:

  • Providing timely cash support to vulnerable families to enable them to cover their most basic needs,
  • Supplying essential items to support families in meeting their basic needs,
  • Providing essential protection services, including running Safe Healing and Learning Spaces for children, gender-based violence services and women’s centers, and legal assistance for people whose homes have been damaged by air strikes,
  • Supporting overwhelmed health facilities with essential supplies and mobile health teams.

The IRC is also on the ground in Poland, working with local organizations to meet the needs of displaced families. This includes:

  • Job skills training and job matching,
  • Providing refugees with information on their rights and available assistance,
  • Working with cultural assistants to help children integrate into classrooms,
  • Continuing to support women affected by the war in Ukraine to find shelter in a carefully curated safe haven and a dedicated women’s center.

The IRC is responding along the entire arc of the crisis, assisting Ukrainian refugees across Europe and in the US.

Humanitarian needs resulting from the war in Ukraine demand unwavering global solidarity. As the initial response loses momentum, the international community needs to scale up its efforts to invest in longer term solutions to ensure that it empowers refugees to make informed decisions about their future and protect those who have remained in Ukraine."

IRC in Palestine:
"In Gaza, the IRC is delivering clean drinking water alongside sanitation and hygiene services, including building emergency latrines and distributing kits that support personal hygiene and safety. We are also providing cash assistance to help families meet urgent needs.

Our protection programs prioritize the safety and well-being of women and children. In addition to case management, we’re helping children and caregivers cope with distress through mental health and psychosocial support. Together with local partners, IRC teams are treating malnutrition and offering nutrition counseling and care for children and their caregivers. We’re also providing early childhood development activities to help children grow and thrive.

Earlier in the response, the IRC distributed food, supported emergency medical services in the few remaining operational hospitals, and deployed mobile health teams to deliver essential care, including medicines and supplies.

In the West Bank, the IRC and our partners are providing early childhood development activities and support for children and families affected by violence. This includes mental health care, psychosocial support, and help for survivors of abuse, as well as training frontline workers to respond in a safe and respectful way.

We are also supporting the Ministry of Health in the West Bank in helping communities become more resilient. This involves improving access to health services, training health workers to identify protection concerns, and strengthening emergency preparedness. We're working closely with local partners to make sure efforts align with national plans, connect health services with protection support, and reach the areas most in need."

Thank you for helping me turn the message of this song into real support for people who need it most. ❤️
