LICA is working with key partners on several multi-year water quality initiatives that started last year. The projects are aimed at improving water quality in Lake Independence. Water quality has been at the top of homeowner and lake enthusiast concerns for many years, and these projects are targeted directly at improving water quality.
In conjunction with the Pioneer-Sarah Creek Watershed Management Commission, Three Rivers Park District, the City of Independence, and the City of Medina, last year LICA started a multi-year initiative to improve water quality through two projects: one that targets curly leaf pondweed, which is the most significant source of internal phosphorus loading in Lake Independence, and a second project
to help address the amount of time it takes for the water level in Lake
Independence to recover after large rain events.
These projects are multi-year initiatives with high up-front costs that gradually decrease over time as the situation improves. In addition to operational support, LICA's partners are also bearing a large amount of the project costs but the amounts will vary year to year depending on Cities budgets and state grant availability.
LICA is a volunteer organization, funded by donations from you and can't make these projects happen without your support!
$200 - Friend (recommended minimum for lakeshore owners)
$400 - Legacy
All donors will be recognized for their support.
Donations to GoFundMe will count towards membership for the current year.
