As you read this, families in Libya are grappling with the devastating aftermath of severe flooding.
On September 11th, Storm Daniel struck the eastern side of Libya. Many cities experienced heavy damage. In the middle of the night during the storm, 2 dams broke in the city of Derna. Entire neighborhoods were swept away and deposited into the Mediterranean Sea. A fourth of the city was destroyed, leaving 40,000 people displaced. 20,000 people lost their lives- entire families gone.
While it may seem like a world away, the Muslim Student Association at the University of Kentucky recognizes the devastation our brothers and sisters face. In these challenging times, we have the opportunity to make a profound difference by extending a helping hand. With your generous support, we can make a significant impact in the lives of those affected.
The Prophet Muhammad s.a.w said:
‘Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgement.’
