Liberty, a friend, partner, daughter, and ball of life for all that know her, was unfortunately in a major crash out in the Alvord desert last week while riding a dirt bike. Despite her extensive experience riding bikes and previous trips to the desert, this accident was something no one could have avoided and involved two bikes colliding head on in the middle of treacherous conditions in a dust storm. Liberty’s body was crushed by both her bike and the other bike she collided with, rendering her unconscious for over thirty minutes.

 

After being rushed to the nearest hospital, over two hours away, it was discovered she suffered a broken pelvis, coccyx, wrist, and major head trauma sustained from the collision. The hospital in Burns, a small town in Oregon, was not equipped to handle the extent of her injuries and she had to be air-lifted out to Bend, to ensure a neurologist was on hand in case the bleeding in her brain took a turn for the worst. All of this medical care was entirely necessary to save her life, but she continues to deal with the aftermath of her injuries, including the massive burden this accident has taken on her finances.

 

If you have been lucky enough to have been around Liberty for more than just a few minutes, you know she is one of the toughest gals around. She would never ask for help and, even as she came to, was more concerned about the other person in the accident (who luckily was not injured). We’ve set up this fundraiser to help cover the medical expenses Liberty has already incurred, and the ones she continues to incur as she works on rehabilitating herself from this crash.

 

It’s time to give back to the girl who is always thinking of the other person, whether it’s a dog, a friend or the world around her, she needs us to make it through this tough chapter of her story.
