Guyana needs change.

The Liberty & Justice Party is the only new party that has no connections to the past. It is the new party for all Guyanese people. The LJP has no connections and is free from the successive oligarchy governments that control Guyana’s politics today, with the old ideologies that over the past 53 years since our independence in 1966, has failed to provide for all of our people and turn Guyana into the modern 21st-century powerhouse it deserves to be. The Liberty and Justice Party believe any decent society must give to each child and every citizen access to cutting edge education and healthcare regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, origin, economic class, and social status. No citizen should have to leave Guyana to get life-saving medical treatment.

Lenox Shuman the Leader of the Liberty & Justice Party,  descends from a long line of Chiefs of the Arawaks of Pakuri (St. Cuthbert’s Mission) that predates the formation of Guyana. Known as the Jaguar People, the Arawaks have been known to occupy the coastal regions of South America and the Caribbean Islands and have roots in the First Nation identity of Guyana that dates back to around 35 000 years.

Lenox Shuman earned a Government Scholarship for his high performance in his CXC results in 1985 seeing him awarded a place at North Georgetown Secondary School.

His family emigrated to Toronto, Canada in August 1990 where Lenox continued his high school education at Jarvis Collegiate Institute. After which, he went on to Confederation College graduating with a Diploma in Business and a Commercial Pilot Licence.

A decade ago, Lenox met his wife Amanda and together they embraced his roots and culture in a traditional Arawak union ceremony in his Village of Ancestry – the first of its kind in this century.

With 16 years, experience as a commercial and airline pilot, together with his father, Lenox re-established a home in Pakuri in 2009, he left his career as an airline pilot to and was elected the Chief of his community in July of 2015.

While serving as chief he was elected and served as Vice Chairman of the National Toshaos Council for three years advocating and elevating the Rights of Indigenous peoples of Guyana.

Under his tenure, promoting better governance and transparency, he led his community to have had a clean financial audit which was a first in the indigenous community. Lenox credited the diligent and professional work of his entire team of Councillors for this historic achievement.

After seeing the continued failures of successive governments Mr. Shuman after consulting his family, decided to devote this life in service of Guyana and all of its people.

Lenox Shuman is contesting the 2020  Guyanese election as the Presidential Candidate for the Liberty & Justice Party.
