Liberation Suite: A Black Movement for Healing & Celebration

Hi! I'm Dare and I am raising funds to pay dancers I'm collaborating with for a project called Liberation Suite. For a long time, I have desired to currate a BLACK dance show. One that tells our stories in a way that uplifts and heals the community, but most importantly the dancers. Far too often stories of Blackness are shared in ways that retraumatize us-doing more harm than good. So, I desire to currate a space that allows Black dancers to heal through dance, find joy & community, and celebrate each ourselves.

I was fortunate to be selected for Khecari Dance's Resource Share Residency where I get to do just that. Facilitate a healing, celebratory space for Black dancers. Plus, produce a showing to debut 4 of my choreographic works that share a story of Black liberation: Liberation Suite.

We require funding to pay the dancers and myself for our time, so we can sustainably do this work. Our residency has already started, so support us in continuing to come together which is important now more than ever.
