Hello Friends,

I’d like you to meet my Niece, Libby Jo. She is the daughter of my sister Katie and her wonderful boyfriend Billy and also the cutest, funniest little girl around.
Libby was born with a hole in her heart. The doctors had hoped that this hole would close naturally over time but as fate would have it, a couple years and a lot of check-ups later, it hadn’t closed and had caused the left side of her little heart to double in size and prevent proper blood flow. This can lead to increased risk of illness, stunted growth and if not treated, far, far worse effects...

On Jan 23rd, Libby went in for her Heart Surgery at the Masonic Children’s Hospital at the U of M. What they found was that her heart was far more inflamed than they had initially thought, nearly 3 TIMES the size it should be. They did the surgery and the increased size caused additional recovery time for Libby. We waited patiently for her little heart to start working again on it’s own.
After about 10 days her heart would not pump on it’s own so they made the decision to do another surgery and install a permanent pace maker.
She has now started a bit of physical therapy to recover from the surgery, which consists of her sitting up and boy does she not like that.

Libby has been staying in the hospital for two weeks as of today, an infection and a few other scary complications have increased Libby’s recover and hospital stay longer yet again but we pray that she will be coming home soon!

Katie is a full time Nursing student, has just started a job as a phlebotomist and is a part time bartender. Billy works at a local farm full time. Both of them have had to take a lot of time off taking care of Libby.

When Libby gets to come home, she will be very limited on activity. Like all 2 year olds she loves to run and dance and spin and play and she won’t be able to do any of those things for about 4 weeks the doctors think. Katie will be staying home with her during most of her recovery to make sure she doesn’t damage her incisions.
I don’t know how you stop a 2 year old from playing, but Her mom will do her best to keep her entertained and smiling.
We are asking for support to help with Libby’s medical bills, and to help supplement Katie and Billy being away from work during this process. All donations will go towards Libby’s bills and her continued recovery. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the continued prayers for Libby and please SHARE this with your friends and family.
A big thanks to everyone in advance. God bless!
