Liang & Sarah go to Festival of Champions
Donation protected
It has been a goal of mine for over a decade to qualify for the U.S. Festival of Champions and compete at the prestigious Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois.
Showing at this championship would be a huge opportunity for me. Not only will I get to compete against other top riders in the nation, but will also have access to the US team coaches for training sessions during our time at Lamplight.
The horse I am taking, Liang, has incredible athletic talent for the sport of dressage. Our partnership is very new, not even two months old, and every day he gives so much to me. I want him to have all the opportunities and successes that he deserves to shine as a top horse in the sport. It was truly a miracle I was able to qualify him after such a short time together.
The cost of getting to a show that is 2,000 miles away is substantial.
The flight alone for Liang is $5200 each way. The entry fee for the competition is roughly $1,500, a hotel will cost about $1,000, and I will also have stabling and nutrition expenses for Liang during the ten days we are at Lamplight. The total cost of the show will be roughly $17,000.
It feels awkward to ask for support, particularly during the current time we are living in. This sport is something I have dedicated almost three decades of passion and commitment to - I truly appreciate your contributions, as well as the encouragement and support. I am so grateful to all of you and for this opportunity, and I promise to keep you all up to date with video, photos and updates on our journey!
Sincerely,
Sarah
