Liam’s journey with Hirschsprung's disease
Donation protected
My name is Kirsten Bernardin!
I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my close friends Shyla Campbell and Shane Robertson for their son Liam “Little Liam”
Liam is a twin to his brother, Levi, and has a big sister Zaidee!
When the twins were born in February 2024, Liam had a month long stay in the NICU at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon where he was diagnosed with Dandy-Walker Variant. This has resulted in many back and forth appointments in Saskatoon for MRI’s and Neurologist appointments this past year.
Over the year, Liam has struggled with his bowel movements; He is in pain a good chunk of time and not able to pass anything and has been on high doses of laxatives and stool softeners.
After a stay at the Swift Current hospital, they were referred to a surgeon in Saskatoon for further testing and a biopsy. He has recently been diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s disease & is awaiting his surgery at the beginning of March.
It is uncertain at this time if Liam will need one operation or two. Unfortunately, they won’t find this out until the surgeon is operating. If he only needs one surgery, Liam’s recovery time will be 5-7 days in JPCH, if everything goes well, and an additional recovery at home.
Liam just turned one & his mama just returned back to work so she is unable to collect EI and has little vacation pay banked so far.
I am starting this fundraiser out of the kindness of my heart to ease the financial strain on Shyla and Shane so they can solely focus on Liam while being away from work for Liam’s surgery, recovery & follow up appointments along with expenses for childcare for their other two children.
Whether big or small any amount helps! Thank you so much!
