Hello, we are the Chestnut/Turner family…Recently, we lost our oldest child, Liam R.Chesnut; born October 14, 2020 to Jasmine Turner and Xavier Chesnut.
About: At only 19 weeks pre-partum the odds were against our sweet baby. Liam was born with two holes in his heart to chromosome, abnormality, ambiguous genitalia, and the right ventricle to his lungs being more narrow, causing him to need 24 hour ventilation. During pregnancy we were told several times that he wouldn’t last full term pregnancy, but he did. We were told that if he was born, we would only have about 5 to 7 hours to spend with him. Our little warrior game us two years and five of the best months of himself. Doctor said there was no name and no known cure for his unseen condition; and that he had acute respiratory failure and pulmonary hypertension. When doctors gave up, we never did, we traveled with our little Liam to find the best care, the best doctors, and the best nurses. All while receiving reports to prepare for the worst.
During Liams first year of life, he was placed in a medically induced coma, because doctors didn’t know what to do with him for 7 months. Following this event, Liam went to Texas Children’s Hospital, where they performed his open-heart surgery at 9 months of life as well as his tracheostomy placement, laparoscopy and gastrostomy tube surgery. They saved our sons life and referred him to a doctor just as good and loving.
Liam was a miraculous child born with significant health issues. He spent more than two years in the hospital touching lives, and making everyone smile and laugh, despite the difficulties he faced on a daily basis.
On March 8th 2023, Liam was taken to the hospital where he later died. Doctors informed us that Liam’s heart had failed him, and that there was nothing else they could do. So we decided to set up this go fund me account to assist with Liam’s funeral cost. Due to Liam’s health conditions, weakened immune system and the pandemic. We had to be cautious of the impact visitors and regular outings would have on Liam. Causing us to be a single income household and unfortunately not leaving much for savings, so we can not cover the fees to have a nice sending off of our little Liam. We ask for anything you are willing to give, an any donation is greatly appreciated and no donation is too small and remember that its tax-deductible so please give whatever you can. We are grateful for anything you can give at this time. We ask that you please forward this page to your family and friends; and we thank you for your support, thoughts, prayers and donations. May God bless each and everyone of you. #LliamLove
