Liam is getting a heart transplant!
Donation protected
Hi. I am Liam's aunt, Rebecca. Liam has been in Seattle Children's hospital for the past few months awaiting a heart transplant. We got big news that his surgery will be in just a few days. Just in time for Christmas and his 18th birthday!
Liam was born with a congenital heart condition called hypoplastic left heart. This meant that the left side of his heart was severely underdeveloped and unable to pump blood to the rest of his body. Thanks to surgical advancements and the amazing team at Seattle Children's Hospital, Liam had 3 successful surgeries when he was a baby that dramatically changed the way his heart functions. Without these surgeries, Liam would have died within a few days of being born.
These surgeries helped Liam live a fairly normal life up until this past summer. While working at Jimmy John's and then McDonald's, Liam started to get tired easily and just wasn't his perky self. After some tests, it was determined that Liam's best chance at survival and a decent quality of life would be a heart transplant. He has essentially been in the hospital ever since because he required IV medication and close monitoring.
Recovery won't be easy for Liam and he has a long road ahead of him. Since he won't be able to work for quite a few months, money from this fundraiser will go directly to support Liam during his recovery.
