Liam was a beautiful 5-year-old boy, who fell suddenly ill while on holiday in Dorset, in August. Liam spent a week in the hospital, undergoing tests and investigations, which was an extremely worrying time for his parents and family. He was diagnosed first with Hepatitis and then with a very rare condition, HLH. After showing signs of recovery, Liam was discharged from the hospital. The family was reassured that Liam could continue his recovery at home and that no further treatment was necessary. After spending two happy and comfortable days at home, sadly and unexpectedly, Liam died in his sleep. The speed at which this happened and that he was supposed to be at home recovering when he died was so shocking and heartbreaking for everyone involved.

Liam was so full of fun, had a gorgeous smile and was such a sweet-natured and happy little man. As you can imagine, his family, including his 8-year-old sister Ella, are devastated and need time to grieve and come to terms with this terrible loss.

Liam was fortunate to have two loving families; he and Ella spent equal time with their Mum, Martina, and their Dad, Sam and his partner Millie.

Sam and Martina are self-employed, so this sudden loss impacts them in so many ways. As well as the emotional distress the families are going through, as dance teachers, they have not been able to contemplate arranging and running their usual full timetable of classes. This will understandably have a financial impact until they feel strong enough to fully return to work. This sad time will be extremely difficult and challenging as they both struggle to come to terms with their loss and process their grief.

Our goal is to raise money to cover funeral and memorial costs and ideally raise extra to give both families the comfort and time to come to terms with this shocking and huge loss in their lives.
