Help Liam Fight Leukemia (AML)

Donation protected

On Jan 23rd (Thursday) Beau and Alice Bradford took their two-year-old son, Liam, to the doctor for a simple visit. 48 hours later they sat in Primary Children's Hospital waiting to start chemotherapy.

The Bradford family took their son the to doctor on the 23rd assuming he was just anemic, like his mother. They did a blood test and were sent immediately to the hospital. From there Liam was life-flighted to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. At 3am the next morning they were given the diagnosis that no parent ever wants to hear, their two-year-old son had cancer.

Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

AML is an aggressive and very quick moving form of leukemia. It progresses so quickly, the 5-year-survival rate is only 24%. That means that only 24% of patients diagnosed with AML will be alive in five years. Liam is two-years-old. His life has barely begun. As a child though, his 5-year-survival-rate is 67%. There is a 67% chance that he will be able to fight this disease.

Liam's first-round chemotherapy started last night (Jan. 25th). Him and his parents will be living 313 miles away from home for at least the next six months. For the next two months, Liam will not be able to leave the hospital at all as he fights for his life.

In less than 48 hours the Bradford family's entire world has been shattered, spun upside down, and is sitting in the state of limbo. The fight for Liam's life will be expensive. On top of chemotherapy, his parents are also looking at the cost of long term hospital stays, future treatments, traveling to and from the hospital (300+ miles), lodging in SLC, balancing work and school, time off from work, and balancing Liam's care with taking care of his baby sister as well.

Liam's parents want to give him the best chance at survival that they can. We want to help support and reduce their financial stress and burden so that they can focus on helping Liam make it through the next six months.

Beau and Alice are amazing parents, great friends, and wonderful family. For everything they have done for us, we want to do what we can for them. Every donation helps alleviate a small bit of stress in the new reality for this young family. Please share this page, please help us help this family as they prepare for what is sure to be a long, emotional, and trying journey.
