Wembley Stadium Team #MoveForCrew
For those of you who know me, I am not built for this type of challenge. I started cycling in December (yep, I waited until all the nice months of weather in lockdown were over), knowing I had to get fitter, but this challenge is a bit of a push for me.
I am incredibly fortunate that my employer, The FA have a great support structure with access to Mental Health specialists and a large team that support each other.
However, this is not the case for thousands of independent freelance individuals in the entertainment industry whose lives have been turned upside down during this pandemic.
Move for Crew is a new initiative to raise more vital funds for the charity TECH – (Technical Entertainment CHarity). They will use the money raised to pay for therapy sessions for those in need and connect the events community with certified practitioners who understand our industry.
I have been in this industry for 25 years and have taken so much from it, but we must never forget that there are times when we have to give something back.
Therefore, on the 23rd March I will attempt to walk around our magnificent stadium 50 times in one day. I thought that 50 laps isn't much, until I reminded myself that one lap is approximately 1Km and Google told me that 50 laps will take me approximately 12 -14 hours, depending how many times I stop to cry.
The 23rd March is significant as it will be one year since Boris first told us we must stay at home and our event industry began to close down.
Please visit the We Need crew web page for more info https://www.weneedcrew.co.uk/
Please support this campaign by spreading the news and making more people aware and if you have a spare few quid, please donate to help people who are struggling to help themselves right now.
Thank you
Liam
