Liam and Jaden's Trans-America Bike Tour

The Gist:
Liam and I (Jaden), are planning a bike tour across America! We are starting in Astoria Oregon and ending in Ocean City New Jersey. The journey will span 4400 miles and will take 3 months to complete! We plan on leaving June 15th and expect to be back no later than mid-September. The anticipated cost of the trip is 4000 dollars, so we are reaching out to friends and family to ask for your support! Anything that you are willing to donate will be greatly appreciated and go directly to funding this trip! Route
The route we are taking is called the TransAmerica Bicycle Trail, and is one of the most famous cross country touring routes in existence. The route has already been mapped out quite extensively, and we will be using paper maps from Adventure Cycles for our navigation.
Bikes/Gear
Liam will be riding a 2019 trek 520 and Jaden will be riding a 1980 Nishiki Gran Tour (seen in cover photo) gifted to him by no other than Dan Ganch! Both of us will be riding with gear to tent camp every night. We will be stopping at grocery stores or gas stations every day to every other day for food and water needs. All gear will be carried in pannier bags on our bikes.
Cost
Plane tickets from Madison to Portland. Bus tickets from Portland to Astoria. Plane tickets from NJ to Madison. Luggage fees whenever we are traveling. Campgrounds, Motels, Hotels. Laundromat, Truckstop showers. Groceries/food. An individual can expect to pay 30 to 50 dollars a day bike touring according to Ryan Van Duzer, a person who has made a living out of bike touring, and crossed America 3 times on bike.
What the trip means to us
Liam and I have known each other our entire lives, and as we have grown into adults our relationship has grown into something special. Liam and I share a loving relationship that has stood the test of time, and this trip marks the end of our childhood relationship and the start of our adult relationship. One commonality that Liam and I share is a love for biking and adventure. This trip has been a dream of Liam’s since 8th grade and marks the end of his high school career. We are both looking for a transformative experience and are ecstatic that we can share the experience together.
How to stay connected
