Lia Cards Fight Against Brain Cancer!

Hello my name is Lisa Koch. I am starting this fundraiser for my granddaughter Lia and her parents, my son Shawn & his wife Samantha Card. Tuesday evening October 3, Lia had fallen at home, and her brother tried picking her up. What her parents soon realized is that she was unable to stand or use her arm on the same side. Shawn called me because I am a nurse. I had my son do a neuro/stroke exam and Lia showed all signs of having a stroke or worse. Long story short she was transported to Upstate Golisano in Syracuse NY. What we soon learned was that she had a brain tumor. She had experienced migraines and visual issues for months which we soon learned was caused by the tumor blocking the passage of fluid thus causing a build up of cerebral spinal fluid in her head. As I write this Lia is in surgery to have the tumor removed. We have been told that she will need Chemo and Radiation to take care of what tumor they cannot remove due to its location. If anyone knows Shawn he is not one to take anything from anyone. However he is self employed and Sam is a stay at home mom. They will be up here in Syracuse for awhile as neither will leave her side. Although we, his family is doing what we can to help, it may not be enough. Any little help is appreciated.
