Lhundrup Choling is a nonprofit Dharma center located in the heart of West Los Angeles. Established in 2008 by Khenpo Sonam Tobgayl to bring the Buddha’s teachings to students who have aspiration and desire to practice. His intention is to support the sangha and students on the spiritual path to enhance their practice. Lhundrup Choling belongs to the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
LCL offers weekly classes on both the Oral and the Revealed Treasure Teaching lineage that trace their history back to the historical Buddha Śhākyamuni and to the great Guru Rinpoche who brought the Vajrayana teachings to Tibet in the eighth century.
All who are interested, Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike, are welcome at the center to listen to teachings or to participate in the monthly ceremonies that are held on a regular basis.
Lhundrup Choling offers a comprehensive and traditional teaching program in both Mahayāna and Vajrayāna that is unique in Southern California, and rare outside of India and the Himalayas. Classical texts along with detailed commentaries are studied in depth. Detailed instructions on Ritual and Practice are offered at the center as well.
It is an aspiration of Khenpo Sonam Tobgayl and the Sangha at Lhundrup Choling to firmly establish the Nyingma Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the city of Los Angeles. Especially since the traditional teachings and practices performed at the center are a rare and precious gem in Los Angeles.
Since 2013 Lhundrup Choling has been in its current location and due to the kindness of the late landlord we have been able to engage in dharma activities at the center without any disturbance to us or our neighbors. Due to the passing of the landlord the time has come for the center to be moved.
Now to fulfill the aspiration of Khenpo Sonam and the sangha to establish Dharma in the city of Los Angeles we are seeking the help of any and all who are willing! We are raising funds for a new center.
Anything will help whether its $5 or $1000 we deeply appreciate your help in reaching our goal! May the merit of our aspiration benefit all beings! May Lhundrup Choling Dharma Center remain so that the Dharma is accessible to all who live and visit the city of Los Angeles!
