Those of you who know, know that I have spent most of my life not being able to hear due to ear problems that I had when I was small. It's been a source of embarrassment, aggrivation, and getting picked on. After much avoidance I went today to see an audiologist, and was told that I am profoundly deaf in my right ear, and 50-75% in my left ear. She said that although there was nothing the could do for my right ear, that she could fit me with a hearing aid for my left ear. She put it in my ear, and it was like someone turned on a light for me for the first time. Little things that I haven't heard in years, or never even heard at all were loud and clear. My mom stepped out of the room, and down the hall, and spoke to me, and I heard her. It was like the miracle I had been hoping for. Every new sound would make me cry again, because I had never heard it. Sadly, I may not be able to keep my little miracle. Even though she was able to work directly with the manufacturer, and get me an incredible deal, we were unable to get it financed, So, unless this works, or another miracle takes place, I will have to give it back, and go back into my world of almost complete silence. I don't want to go back.
