Please consider supporting Leah Glenn Dance Theatre as we close our 10th anniversary and embark on an exciting new season!

In preparation for this year's Giving Tuesday, we are so proud to share our brand new video reel of Nine so you can see some excerpts from the production and read some of the incredible audience responses we received after our performance in Williamsburg this past September. We are so grateful to all of you for your continued support of this project. Please consider a donation to support upcoming performances of Nine in 2024 and beyond!
Founded in the summer of 2013, Leah Glenn Dance Theatre turns 10 years old!
What better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than a presentation of Nine at William & Mary, the company's home and host for this decade of creative energy!
SAVE THE DATE and mark your calendars for September 9th at 7:30pm in the newly renovated PBK Hall at William & Mary. LGDT's performance of Nine will be the inaugural performance in this new state-of-the-art theater space.
Nine is a commemorative multi-media performance piece celebrating the Little Rock Nine. The work features the choreography of Artistic Director Leah Glenn and the visual art of Steve Prince, as well as collaborations with Dr. Hermine Pinson (poet), Dr. Jamel Donner (historian), Dr. Stephen Hayes (composer), and Mary Jo O'Shaughnessy (costume designer). The work seamlessly interweaves the vocabularies of dance, visual arts, poetry, and music into a narrative that reminds our nation of its collective history while causing us to reflect upon the repercussions of those damages upon our current education system.
Nine has been traveling the country, starting with a World Premiere at the Carver Community Cultural Center in San Antonio, Texas in May 2022, followed by a second engagement at Dogtown Dance Theatre in Richmond, Virginia, and a residency at Xavier University in New Orleans, Lousiana earlier this year.
Your financial support helps ensure the future of LGDT and all these aspects of our work:
- Artist honoraria
- Travel
- Housing for our cast of 16 (a mixture of long-time company members of Leah Glenn Dance Theatre and professional guest artists who join the cast from various cities across the United States)
- Rehearsal studio rental
- Theater rental so we can share this work with the wider national community
- Recording our original musical score
- ...and much more!
In 2019, Leah had the opportunity to meet Carlotta Walls LaNier, who saw excerpts of the work-in-progress and challenged us to make sure people across the country could experience this piece. With your help, we can share this work - and the collective impact of 10 years of Leah Glenn Dance Theatre - with the world!
Nine is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation & Development Fund project co-commissioned by the Carver Community Cultural Center in partnership with Xavier University of Louisiana and NPN.
