The In-Between Photography and Story-Telling Exhibit
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Molly Byrom, a queer photographer and social worker from Birmingham, Alabama. About a year ago, I started a portrait photography series of LGBTQIA+ people who identify as Christian. The title of "The In-Between", is based off of a prayer by Associate Pastor Samantha Kiley of Church on Morgan.
Camera used: Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera. Each subject wrote a condensed version of their journey with their faith and sexuality to pair with their photos.
Donation Tiers
$30 covers the cost and development of 1 roll of film
$70 covers one large print on a matt board
$100 covers one person's story (film + development, and print)
I met with dear friends, old and new in Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, Raleigh-Durham, NC, Richmond, VA, Washington, D.C., and Miami, Fl for the purpose of this series.
The funds I'm raising go towards the film I used and developed, large quality prints of each subject, gas expenses, postage for subjects to mail their hand-written stories, and other display expenses for the exhibit.
This series is important to me because I have personally been on this journey for 10 years. I have both deconstructed and rebuilt a relationship with a God who embraces and celebrates all of me. The more I have leaned into my story, the more people I have met who are on similar journeys.
The Instagram for the series is @lgbtqchristianstories.
