We are very excited to announce our campaign for the upcoming short film Found Family!
Found Family is a short film written by Cassandra Burge and directed by Esmée Lavalette.
Found Family follows Elyse and her issues on how to come out to her homophobic parents and wanting to meet her long distance girlfriend for the first time. This is an exciting queer story that will resonate with a lot of people within the LGBTQ+ community, but other audiences as well. We would like to reach a range of viewers who all feel like they can relate to the film’s narrative, or the characters’ emotions in various ways. No one should be afraid to be who they are.
Esmée will be directing this short as her thesis film for the Directing Certificate at UCLA Extension. As a lesbian herself, she thinks representation, in front of the camera and behind it, is extremely important. This is why she is casting actors who identify themselves with the LGBTQ+ community whilst also making sure that as many women as possible have a chance to work on the set.
In just a month we will start production. The goal above is the minimum amount that we will require to produce this film to a suitable standard. Any contributions made will go towards our production costs, such as the renting of locations, equipment, insurance, food and transportation, and ensure that everyone working on this project is well taken care of. Furthermore, the rest of the contributions will go to post production costs and festival submissions.
Even if you can’t help us financially, we would love it if you’d pass the word along and help us get others invested.
