LGBTQ legal permanent resident in need of relocation.

Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I need your help.
My name is Jack, and I’m a queer British immigrant currently living in the U.S.
Since the latest election, I’ve watched the political climate here become increasingly and rapidly more hostile toward LGBTQ+ people and immigrants.
More and more anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-immigrant legislation is being introduced and passed, restricting rights, limiting protections, and fostering an environment of fear.
From bans on gender-affirming healthcare, the ending of government funding for HIV preventative care and attacks on asylum seekers, as well as the random imprisonments of lawful Permanent residents, it’s clear that the U.S. is becoming an increasingly dangerous place for marginalized communities like mine.
The rise in hate crimes, the rollback of civil rights, and the growing hostility toward immigrants make it clear that staying here long-term is sadly not safe for me.
I’ve made the difficult decision after 10 years here to leave and start fresh in Barcelona—a place where LGBTQ+ rights are protected, healthcare is accessible, and I can live without fear of my rights being taken away or access to necessary medications being halted.
But moving internationally is expensive, and I desperately need help to make this transition possible, as soon as possible.
I have calculated what the approximate costs will be and while I am working to try and save up, cost of living here is making it difficult for me and I need help.
What Your Support Will Help Cover:
* Visa Application: $110 to $220
* Flights: $750 (In summer, including as much luggage as I can carry to minimize any shipping costs)
* Accommodation: $3300 (1100 per month plus the deposit of two months rent which seems to be the normal requirement)
* Health Insurance: (Private health insurance is compulsory for my Visa application) $60
* Shipping my belongings: $500
(Any extra funds raised will go towards getting set up with a new phone number, a travel pass for the month, food etc.)
If you’re able to contribute, any amount—big or small—will bring me closer to safety and stability.
If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support.
