Hello friends,
My name is Lexie Isett (she/her). I’m a trans woman from Texas, and I am preparing to leave the United States to seek asylum in Spain. This is not an easy choice — Texas is the only home I’ve ever known, and I love it deeply. But the political climate here has become openly hostile to people like me. Laws and policies are being passed that make it unsafe to live authentically as a trans woman, and staying has begun to threaten my safety, mental health, and future.
I will soon be moving to Barcelona, Spain, where I plan to request asylum and begin building a safer life for myself. This isn’t a temporary relocation — this will be my new home for the indefinite future. I’m fundraising to cover the essentials that will make this transition possible: airfare, initial hostel housing, food, transportation, document translations, and basic medical needs while I begin the asylum process.
What your support will cover (estimated in USD):
• ✈️ One-way flight to Barcelona: $800 – $1,200
• Hostel housing (3 months): $2,100 – $3,600
• Food & groceries (3 months): $600 – $900
• Public transportation (metro/bus passes): $150 – $180
• Phone & SIM card (3 months): $50 – $90
• Medical / prescriptions / supplies: $200 – $400
• Document copies & translations, misc. fees: $100 – $200
• ⚡ Emergency cushion (unexpected costs): $300 – $500
Estimated fundraising goal: $4,300 – $6,600
Leaving everything I’ve known behind is overwhelming, and asking for help is hard. But I can’t do this without community support. If you are able to donate, share, or simply spread the word, you’re helping me take the first steps toward safety, stability, and a future where I can live without fear.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you. Your support means more than I can ever express.
