On Friday 15th July, 2016, after many visits to the doctors for being unwell, 2 year old Alexis was diagnosed with Leukaemia. She and her mother Kirrily were flown to the Royal Childrens Hospital for more testing to be done. That afternoon it was confirmed that Alexis has High risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, or ALL for short. ?This was just a stab to the heart for any parent to hear.. Her mother thought "maybe the doctor is wrong surly my little 23 month old does not have cancer?.." but it was the horrible truth that has turned their life upside down.Over 9 months into treatment now Lexi has started her maintenance stage of her treatment which means going home and having chemo tablets every day for the next 2 years and a second dose every Tuesday as well as steroids on and off and also monthly visits for intravenous chemo as well as lumbar punctures and Doctors's reviews, and the odd unplanned hospital admissions as well...That's doses of chemo for 680 days straight in a toddlers precious body."Home" for Alexis and Kirrily these past 9 months has been accomodation with the leukaemia foundation, now they will be in their home travelling roughly 30km to hospital every time.Alexis' mother is unable to work anymore due to caring for alexis, which is very hard financially as life still goes on and the costs for living still do not stop.This could possibly be until Alexis is in kindergarten or possibly school which is still 2-3 years away, due to on going treatments and low immune system.Please share Alexis' link to help raise much needed funds to help the family in getting essential medical supplies, medications, fuel & the stress of daily financial difficulties, it would be greatly appreciated!?It is going to be a long two years ahead, but Alexis is strong and she will keep fighting.Please copy the link and please share this around as much as possible to help & please everyone keep Alexis & family in your thoughts. #lexisbrightfight follow her journey-instagram- lexisbrightfightFacebook- lexi's bright fightXx
