Hi, we (Josiane and Justin) are fundraising for our dog, Lexie.

On December 3rd, 2025, Lexie slipped while running outside and suffered a traumatic hip luxation (dislocation) that tore her joint capsule — a painful and serious injury that required urgent veterinary care. The veterinarian attempted a closed reduction (putting the hip back in place without surgery), but because the joint capsule is torn, her hip keeps slipping out, making it impossible for her to walk normally and causing her significant pain.

We were referred to an orthopedic surgeon who strongly recommended a procedure called an open reduction with toggle — an artificial ligament placed through small drilled holes in the femur and pelvis to stabilize the hip while her tissues heal. Lexie received her hip surgery on December 11, 2025, because waiting wasn’t an option. This surgery was necessary to restore her mobility, reduce her pain, and prevent lifelong disability.

So far, we have paid $3,500 out of pocket for exams, imaging, the non-surgical procedure, and medications. The remaining cost for Lexie’s surgery, hospitalization, anesthesia, medications and follow-up care is $10,600, which is why we’re asking for help.

We’re doing everything we can, but this unexpected emergency is more than we can manage alone. Lexie is family — she has been by our side for four years now (her birthday was last Monday, December 8th), and we want to give her every chance to live a pain-free, happy life.
