Lexi's MS Battle With Waist Down Paralysis

Donation protected
Hi All! My name is Alexus Chaleman ... some may know me as Lexi, Lucky, Lexy Mae, or Lex. Some remember me as @PartyNextDoorr on twitter. I graduated class of 2016 in Bristol Central High School. I went to Thomas Hooker in middle school, Fairchild Wheeler, and Platt Tech. I was a part of several CAU2020 group chats, and attended CAU for about a year studying Criminal Justice. I’ve lived in the Bronx, NY, and all around CT...New Haven, Bridgeport, Bristol, and Branford, and I knew a lot of people from Waterbury. I worked at Staples for over 4 years in the Copy and Print Center in Atlanta (Southington, CT location prior to my transfer) until April 2019... I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis simply from a bout of Optic Neuritis. I was admitted to the hospital and the disease progressed to left side paralysis for about 3 months, but I went into remission and was fine. I knew nothing about the disease and was confused about everything... how did I get it? How do I make it go away? Will I see again? Will I move the same way I did before? There weren’t many answers, or at least any solid promises. The doctors said I should search for a job that was less stressful being that customer service is super stressful. This was followed by 4 other flares that included more optic neuritis, hearing impairment and on and off weak limbs. With chronic depression and anxiety, the phrase “don’t stress it” is 100% easier said than done. Around January 20th, 2020 I experienced the worst flare of them all. It started, as always with optic neuritis in the left eye, and mild weakness of the left side and then suddenly... full leg paralysis. I went through 14 days of inpatient rehab and unfortunately, I could only make progress with strengthening my upper body to compensate for loss of sensation and movement in my legs. I don't have the funds for anything like food, clothing, transportation, my day-to-day expenses. My insurance won't cover anymore than $100 of my follow up visits, and while I've applied for medicaid and financial government assistance/disability, it won't be approved anytime soon because we all know that type of thing takes quite a while to process. I am asking for any donations possible in effort to financially support myself. Yes, I have looked to charities and yes I have contacted FODAC for services but they currently do not have anything for me. I check daily and will update this if I find anything from FODAC! Please find it in your heart to send even prayers my way, as I have a strong spirit but this has seriously taken a toll on my mental health and strength. I have an amazing support system from my family and friends and I am grateful for everyone who has helped me in any way! Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless all of those who find it in their hearts to help me in ANY WAY. Please contact me if, rather than money, you would like to donate items! ❤️ Thank you to the moon and back for all help. Contact me at (470) 344-5672 (not my real phone number for obvious reasons) and we can coordinate meeting and other things! Thanks to my former coworkers, classmates, people I met on social media, and everyone for being so supportive of me & I hope you guys can keep sharing my story ❤️ I love you guys!
