Lexie Velazquez

Last month, my 37 yr old cousin, Lexie was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that has spread to her lung and liver. Lexie and her husband Dan have two children, Ella (6 yrs old) and Wil (13 yrs old). Long time Ridley Township residents, the Velazquez family is active in the community. Members of the Ridley Township Swim Club, Dan a Ridley Raider's Football Coach, and Wil a Ridley Raider's Quarterback . Over the years, they have been fortunate to have met, and come to rely on such an amazing group of fellow Ridley Township residents and neighbors they call friends.
Kidney cancer in individuals under 45 yrs old is extremely rare, so her case is very unique. Her team of doctors at Fox Chase Cancer Center are confident that with the proper course of treatments and surgery they can get her into remission, but the treatments are taking their toll and it will be a long hard road.
Lexie, a nurse at Crozer Chester Medical Center, is no longer able to work. The family of four has gone from a two income household to one. Dan, an Operation Iraqi Freedom war veteran, had also changed careers, prior to Lexie's diagnosis. Knowing that initially he would be taking a pay cut, but in the long run it would be more beneficial to their family's future.
Household bills and expenses are building and will continue to mount as Lexie and Dan face this very tough battle. Please support them if you can! Every dollar raised will mean one less minute of worry, allowing them to focus all their energy on beating this disease and getting their children through this very difficult time.
