As many of us know, Lexa Schocke is an absolutely incredible and amazing person. I am lucky to call her my coworker and, more importantly, my friend. Her strength, perseverance, independence, strong will, passion, intelligence, caring nature, and positive attitude are a combination of traits manifested by only a few.

Unfortunately, hard times have besieged Lexa. A little over a month ago, Lexa experienced a back injury that sent her to the hospital. This turned out to be a herniated disk that almost completely immobilized her. She needs to undergo back surgery for this injury.

This has made her unable to work over the last month, and she will be unable to for the foreseeable future. That, in combination with workmen's comp's asinine refusal to acknowledge her situation, has made this ordeal a tremendous financial burden. It does not help that Lexa is a single mother of 2 kids. This burden has put Lexa in a precarious financial position, especially as the holiday season approaches. It puts her at risk of losing her car, having issues paying for surgery/rehab, not giving her kids the holiday they deserve, and getting back up on her feet.

Since Lexa is extremely independent, she will not outright ask for help (even when she needs it). That is why I am setting up a GoFundMe page for her. If it is within your means, I am asking for donations to help Lexa get through this horrendous situation. This money would help Lexa catch up on her car payments, pay her medical expenses, buy Christmas gifts for her children, and manage any additional expenses she will encounter.
