Hi, my name is Lex. I'm 32, and I am trans.
I've been on a very long journey with my gender identity. When I was 13, I identified as a boy online. It never changed from that moment on, but various events and obstacles in my life prevented me from truly accepting and coming to terms with my identity.
At 32, and after a lot of panic and gender dysmorphia, I've come to terms with the fact that I have to live for myself and begin my transition.
The current waiting time for a first appointment via the NHS is unimaginably long. There are reports of people waiting as long as 75 months for their first appointment. Waiting for upwards of 6 years to begin my assessments, and HRT, is simply not an option for me.
This is why I'm here and asking for your help. In my initial budget I've got a loose idea of how much it would cost for the following:
> initial assessment + follow ups
> blood test fees
> travel
> gender affirming care (clothing, voice therapy, etc)
> HRT prescription costs
Thank you for reading my short and sweet story, and for considering donating or sharing.
