In Alexa's own words:

"Hello, my name is Alexa and I'm asking for help for my family to survive post-kidney transplant.

I am in stage 5 kidney failure and am currently on dialysis. My only chance to live longer than a few more years is to receive a kidney transplant. My beautiful wife is going to be my donor. While this is an incredible and generous gift, it also means we'll be even more financially strained with both of us off work to recover.

I want so badly to be a present and active parent to my 10-year-old and the last few years have taken so much out of me. A transplant will give me many more years (15-20 years with a kidney from a living donor) with my family, and I want every possible second with them.

I'll receive disability payments while I'm recovering. Unfortunately, even with that and the small savings we have, we still have to come up with $14,350. This is to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses, 3 months of regular expenses, and to account for extra groceries for the family members (who are traveling from New Zealand) who are required to stay with us 24/7 after the surgery. After transplant, I'll be on immuno-suppressant meds and my immune system will be especially fragile for the first 3 months requiring us to isolate during that time.

Every cent helps get us closer to making this happen and we are beyond grateful for every share or contribution."

Lex is such an incredible friend and person, she's the reason I know anything about coffee and gave me my first opportunity to pop up my art at the coffee shop she worked at. Lex and Lyandrea were the first supporters of my business endeavors and have believed in me since day one. I believe that they are love in human form, Alexa and Lyandrea have shown us time and time again how love prospers beyond measure. They've poured compassion and support into all the communities around them and have left their mark on Orlando as two of the sweetest people.
