Lewis vs American Express

Hello, my name is Sophia Lewis and I’m a former employee at American Express who was terminated for being a whistleblower. I was a Sr. Leader in the company’s Middle Market Sales unit. I was retaliated against for coming forward to protect small business owners from aggressive, unethical, and illegal sales tactics of employees and some members of leadership. The impact on small business owners was substantial while many employees made huge commissions. There have been at least 8 articles written by the Wall Street Journal regarding American Express's questionable sales practices, in addition to my whistleblower complaint. Additionally, because of said articles, the company is currently under investigation by OCC, FDIC, DOJ, CFPB, and IRS.
I filed a whistleblower retaliation complaint with OSHA, a division of the Department of Labor. I was passed over for promotions, rescinded offers for lateral roles, harassed, given a poor rating, suspended, and ultimately terminated. However, before coming forward my career was stellar, and I planned on retiring from the company I respected and enjoyed being a part of. All of that changed the moment I came forward to alert Upper Management of problematic practices to protect small business owners.
Now my case is at the point of being presented in front of the Department of Labor’s Administrative Law Judge. As you can imagine this is truly a case of David vs Goliath and because of such, the legal costs are substantial. I’ve created this account to gain support financially to continue my pursuit of justice. Please feel free to search for American Express articles written by the Wall Street Journal, as there are several (approximately 8) from 2019 - 2022.
