Lewis Jukes

This is Lewis. He is an active, fun, mischievous little man. With the biggest of hearts. He loves football, especially the villa, and is part of a football team. he enjoys playing his games and being your typical little boy. He is 10 years old and currently is at the beginning of a pretty frightening battle with cancer.

Lewis lives with his mom and two younger brothers and jointly shares his time with his dad, also.

A few weeks ago, Lewis was having issues with his vision, his one eye moving to the one side. He was complaining of head aches and a few other symptoms. Mom leanne took Lewis for an eye test to see if there was a problem with his vision. Maybe he needs glasses to help.

At this appointment, leanne was advised she needed to go to the eye hospital immediately with Lewis. Which she did. After being seen at the eye hospital, they were informed he needed to go to the hospital ASAP as they could see something.

At the hospital, Lewis had to undergo a Mri and CT scan. Which revealed Lewis had a serious amount of swelling in his head caused by a tumour burrowed deep within his brain. He needed to undergo an operation to drain the excess fluid as soon as possible and to retrieve a biopsy to see what tumour this was. To which he did. And all done with such bravery.

Lewis has taken this all in his stride. With a few questions and worries along the way. He has shown huge courage and bravery for his age. Which is down to both his parents and family supporting him through this life changing event.

Weeks have gone by waiting for the results of the biopsy to come back. And unfortunately have come back as a rare form of cancer, which only affects around 100 people.

Lewis will now need to undergo surgery to remove the tumour. They aim to remove as much of it as possible followed up with radio therapy.

I have set up this go fund me for Lewis to raise some money to take this little man out to buy him some new things to see him through his treatment. And to keep him occupied and make him comfortable.

With the aim to also be able to put money into a pot towards the family to help towards expenses they are going to face in the upcoming months.

With the cost of living crisis, I'm sure everyone can understand how worrying this time is for Lewis and his family. His parents are going to have to travel back and forth throughout this treatment and have many other expenses to face.

Leanne has two other children, which she will have to get childcare for and share her time between home and the hospital.

Equally, Lewis's dad works full time and will also need to be by his side, which will take a toll on his work and could financially affect him.

I hope to use some of this money also to treat Lewis's little brothers to some treats, too. As I'm sure it will be an unsettling time for them also experiencing such change in the household as seeing their big brother so poorly.

Doctors at Birmingham children's hospital seem very optimistic and hopeful for the future with a good outcome. But have not hidden how poorly lewis could get and how difficult the upcoming weeks and months will be.

So I am hoping with this go fund me we can as a family, friends and community pull together and help support this family in such a difficult time and just ease some of the pressure and worries for them all.

Any messages sent I will also put together a little book for lewis to see all the love he has received throughout his journey. Please keep them all in your prayers. The fight begins here, lewis. And you have an army behind you. We love you, little man
