LEWIS HENRY JAMES CALVERT

My brother Lewis Calvert sadly passed away on the 15th March 2020. He suffered with an asthma attack on the 12th March 2020, despite Lewis’ dads best efforts to perform CPR he unfortunately couldn’t be saved. Lewis went into Cardiac Arrest and suffered a brain injury as a result of lack of oxygen.  As a family we were thoroughly supported by the Critical Care Unit at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. They helped us through the hardest time of our lives, we wouldn’t have been able to get through without their kind words, smiles, endless brews and determination to make Lewis as comfortable as possible. They really looked after Lewis and for this we will be eternally grateful.  Lewis donated his organs and three people are able to receive the gift of life from his selfless act. We take comfort in knowing other families do not have to go through the pain and heartbreak of saying goodbyes to their loved ones because of Lewis.  On Friday 3rd April 2020 we laid our brother, son, partner, uncle, grandson, cousin to rest. Due to the coronavirus 10 people were able to attend his ceremony. We couldn’t have a collection for Lewis for The Critical Care Team At DRI.  Lewis was loved by many and once we are able to we will celebrate his life in true style as my brother would have wanted, he loved his partying, friends, gin and really was the life and soul !  We offer our apologies for those that are finding out now about Lewis, as a family we have really struggled coming to terms with all of this, he was 23 years old, he was taken way before his time and we still haven’t accepted this.  We hope you will support us in raising funds for DRI, Critical Care Unit especially now in these times as they need our help now more than ever.
