Lewis & Judith's Triple Challenge

LEWIS & JUDITH'S TRIPLE CHALLENGE (+HAIR CHOP)

Thank you for checking out Lewis and Judith's Triple Challenge for UK Charity for Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

For our Triple Challenge, we will be running 3 MILES, 3 TIMES PER WEEK for 3 MONTHS. We started on 3rd December 2021 and will finish on 3rd March 2022 (which is Triple Negative Breast Cancer Awareness Day).

And, to chop (top!) this off, Judith will have 45cm of her hair cut off!

Why are we doing this challenge?

Our 'Triple Challenge' is in memory of Lewis' mum and Judith's big sister, Ruth Baxter, who died in July 2020 at the age 52, following a brave battle with triple negative breast cancer.

Ruth had been diagnosed previously, and recovered. However, this aggressive form of breast cancer returned in early 2019 and spread to her bones, lungs and liver. Despite undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and pioneering immunotherapy, COVID-19 delayed some of her treatment and her condition progressively worsened through 2019 and 2020. Ruth died surrounded by her family, leaving behind a husband, son, two sisters, mum and dad and wider family, countless friends and colleagues.

Through our challenge, we aim to raise funds for a new charity, The UK Charity for Triple Negative Breast Cancer, and raise awareness of this uncommon form of breast cancer.

The UK Charity for Triple Negative Breast Cancer provides information for people with TNBC and funds scientific research into targeted treatments and eventually, a cure for TNBC. They also provide up-to-date information and resources on their website.

We're going to be running in branded t-shirts, varying our routes to cover local running areas that were important or significant to Ruth. Ruth was a passionate runner, so what better way to remember Ruth than to do a running challenge. We will upload our photos and short videos, so you're with us every step of the way.  By the end of this Triple Challenge, we will have run over 129 miles - equating to almost 5 marathons.

And in the final week of the challenge, on Friday 25th February, Judith will be having her hair chopped to a bob-style that Ruth favoured and loved. Over 45cm of hair will be donated to 'The Little Princess Trust Charity', where real wigs are made for children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

In the theme of TRIPLES, our target is £3,000.

We would be delighted if we could reach our target. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for your support.
