During March 2019, my husband, Orville, experienced a sudden, rapid decline in health. He began feeling very fatigued and having lots of muscle spasms and cramping. After a blood test, we were instructed to get him to the ER immediately. The doctors told us his kidney function is at 2% and he needs dialysis immediately (at least 3 times a week for 4 hours at a time) and most likely a transplant in the near future.
We have four children, ages 13, 12, 9, and 6. Our daughter, Scarlett, is dealing with seizures and being treated by a neurologist in Hackensack, NJ. Between the two medical issues, we will be paying our max out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance this year, plus have extra travel expenses and missed days of work for both Orville and myself.
It is very difficult for us to ask for help, especially considering we'll probably be asking for a kidney soon as well, but we've decided to swallow our pride and just concentrate on healing and paying it forward. We've been encouraged by many of you to reach out and ask for what we need, and this is our primary need. We love and thank you all so much, whether or not you can contribute here. Prayers, positive words, and helping to spread the word are also much appreciated. We believe that goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives, and that love never fails, and you all are further demonstrating that to us daily.
