My name is Lew (she/her). I’m a 21-year-old musical theatre performer based between Wiltshire and London. Almost five years ago, I came out as a trans woman while beginning my training in musical theatre. It was the first time in my life that I could walk into a room, introduce myself as Lew, and be seen as the woman I truly am. For the first time, I was able to present myself with femininity, confidence, and honesty — and that feeling was life-changing. While things like clothing, makeup, and hair have helped me socially transition and express myself, there is still a deep part of me that feels incomplete. I’ve reached a point where I can finally say out loud what my heart has always known: I am a trans woman, and I need my body to align with the identity I’ve fought so hard to embrace. Unfortunately, trans healthcare in the UK is incredibly expensive. My family and I simply can’t afford the costs alone. My current goal is to raise enough to continue my hormone treatment, laser hair removal and also to fund breast surgery — steps that will help me feel more comfortable, confident, and at home in my own body. For 18 years of my life, a little girl was trapped inside, waiting to be free. Now she finally is — and she’s ready to grow, to live, and to be herself. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. Truly. The thought that someone would want to help me become my most authentic self fills me with so much gratitude and joy.
