Hello, my name is Christine and I need your help!! My childhood best friend for over 30 years, Shannon (Kenny) Mane, who is now married and lives in Hicksville, has endured a diagnosis called Intermedullary Spinal Ependymoma from T9 to the base of her sacrum since 2018. This is a cancer tumor that has formed around her spine and is inoperable. She has undergone numerous radiation and chemo treatments with such grace and determination, never once complaining or relying on anyone. She had to stop working at the end of 2024 due to pain and losing feeling in her legs. Unfortunately, she became immobile at the start of 2025, causing her to use walkers and eventually a scooter. Her wonderful, supportive husband, Juan, was a NYPD cop who had to retire at the same time so that he could be home to take her to doctors and take full responsibility for all the household duties and their three children, Hailey, Heather, and Lucas.

Although Shannon and Juan have done their best since this all occurred, last Monday, 9/29/25, while getting ready for a doctor's appointment, Shannon took a fall that resulted in a shattered femur. She is looking at 6 weeks or more in a rehab facility, taking her away from her family and putting everything on Juan, including more medical costs.

We need to help our Hicksville PTA board member, booster club co-president, and organizer of many individual fundraisers during this very difficult physical and mental recovery.

Any donation helps take the burden off Juan and kids. With these funds they will purchase a handicapped van to make it easier to get to appointments and her sons football games, and to see her daughter in college.
