Levi's Life Changing Opportunity

Donation protected
Wow!  Can you believe it, Levi is 18 years old and he's on his way to his senior year at Broomfield High School!  Through the ups and the downs, this young boy is growing more and more into a man every day.   For those of you that know his story, then you know what a feat it is that he is thriving in life right now.

Statistics said this young man should be in jail, that he should have failed out of high school, that he ultimately wouldn't amount to much in the face of society.  However, this young man has overcome statistics.  He has rewritten his story, and Mollie and I couldn't be more proud of him...better yet, he couldn't be more proud of himself!

SO many of you have helped us get to this point, it truly has taken a village.   Please know the sincere gratitude that Mollie, Levi, and I have for all of you.

BUT, we need YOUR help with one more thing.  Wrestling has been a crucial piece to the success in this young man's life.  If you're a fan of the sport then you already know what wrestling can offer to a young child.  Wrestling has helped Levi find out that he is strong, that he has worth, and that he can overcome adversity.   He's learned to pick himself up when he falls down, he's learned to be responsible for his choices, and he's learned to be happy for others in their victories and sad for them in their defeats.

Levi has only been wrestling for 3 years, he started as a freshmen.  Now, as a junior he won 1st place in his league championship, he took 5th at regionals, and earned all-conference honors.  Check out this awesome article about him in the Boulder Daily Camera - Broomfield's Diecidue wins first tourney title

While the United States Marine Corp is Levi's end goal after high school, he is extremely focused and excited for his senior year of high school wrestling and there is a camp that he would like to attend that we believe will help give him the edge he needs to make it to the state wrestling championships next year, but this camp will also prepare him for the discipline that he will need to succeed in the military.

The camp is a "J Robinson Intensive Wrestling Camp" which is 28 days long in Wisconsin being held this July.   There is a link below showing a promo video that explains the camp in detail if you're curious, and here's a link to read more J Robinson Camp.

What we are so drawn too is that J Robinson was an Army Ranger, and a national championship winning coach at the University of Minnesota.  While there may be more technical wrestling camps out there, this camp helps develop the discipline to be successful in life, let alone in wrestling.  Those are BOTH huge wins for Levi as he prepares for adulthood.  Here's an example of day at camp that show both the emphasis on wrestling and life skills -

6:30am Wake Up
6:45am - 7:45am Running and/or Weight Training
8:00am - 9:45am Breakfast and Rest
10:00am - 12:00pm Technique Sessions
12:15pm - 2:45pm Lunch and Rest
3:00pm - 5:00pm Hard Practice, Drilling, and Live Wrestling
5:15pm - 7:15pm Dinner and Rest
7:30pm - 8:00pm Mental Attitude, Motivation, Life Skills, and Visualization Training
8:00pm - 9:45pm Technique Review, Running or Weight Training
11:00pm Lights Out

The cost of the camp is $2,849 dollars plus $200 dollars in deposits and fees, and about another $300 dollars for the flight.   The link above will show you the price breakdown and I listed it below; as well you can learn more about the camp which I would encourage you to do, it is AMAZING!

As parents, Mollie and I would love nothing more than to be able to help Levi pay for this opportunity, but as a lot of you know we have TWINS on the way.  Levi is currently working, and he is going to pay the $500 dollar registration fee so he does have some skin in the game too!

Levi had his first job last summer working as a pool boy at a fancy hotel, and he earned enough money to buy his first car! Now he's putting his tax return towards this camp.  He just got a new job at King Soopers but we would like him to save as much of that money as possible for his senior year because Mollie and I won't have the same margin to help him that we have had in the past, especially as Mollie stays home to care for the babies.

So this is where we need YOUR help.  Every dollar you give is going to his camp, and if there is extra money it will be put towards the expenses of wrestling in his life.   No donation is too small, and every dolllar let's this child know that you love him and believe in him!  We would hopefully like to have all the money raised by April 1st.

I know not everyone reading this knows Levi's story, but if you're curious please reach out to me.  Mollie, Levi, and I would love to share what God has orchestrated in our lives.  I met Levi through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Colorado almost 10 years ago.  Levi's wonderful Grandma raised him most of his life as both his parents have been incarcerated.  Eventually, there came an opportunity to help love this child more. When Levi got to high school Mollie and I became his legal guardians, and he has lived with us ever since!   Here's a picture they day everything became official at the courthouse-

We've got one more year to go!  Once again, thank you all!  It means the world to all of us.  Let us know if you have any questions!  Here's the price breakdown of the camp -
