Levi's Emergency Vet Bill Needs Your Help

Donation protected
Update: (5/25 @630pm)
We took Levi in for an emergency visit today and he formed an abscess on his right side where the stick was poking from. The vet sedated him and drained it and now he has a drainige tube took keep it draining. They think the abscess came from pieces of his hair that must of made it inside from when the stick entered. He is home and seems to be doing a lot better. He definitely will have battle scars.

(5/25 @8am) Levi is not doing so well. The area on his side where the stick was pushing out from is now filled with fluid, a part of his incision on his stomach is now infected so we are trying to take him back to the vets today (5/25). So right now your donations are going to go to the emergency visit today since the cost just to be seen is $160. Thank you everyone who has helped and prayed for Levi. He is an amazing cat and deserves to make it thru this.

Hello everyone, my name is Katrina Casteel. I'm trying to raise funds to help pay for vet expenses. My 3-year-old cat (domestic short hair), named Levi, had a traumatic accident a few days ago on Friday, May 16th. He is an indoor/outdoor cat, so needless to say, he is very adventurous.

Well, that Friday, I was on my porch trying to hang something up when I noticed Levi slowly walking over, and I saw a bulge on his right side. I instantly knew something was wrong, so I said, "What happened to you!?" "What happened??" He just did a meow that was telling me that he was hurt. I'll try to include the Ring video of when I first saw him.

So I automatically assumed he got hit by a car and that was a bone poking out his side, but it didn't go through his skin. So he slowly gets in the house, goes upstairs, and lays down. I don't have a vehicle right now, so I called my best friend and told her I have to get him to the emergency vets ASAP. Well, when he got up to go into the carrier, I noticed something hanging from his backside. I thought he was pooping at first, but then I looked more closely and realized that it was the end of a stick! So he wasn't hit by a car; he was IMPALED by a stick .

My thoughts on how this happened are that when he was playing in the woods out back, he likes to run up trees and jump down. I think he ran/climbed up a tree and landed in the big pile of leaves that are out there, and when he landed on the pile, the stick must have impaled him at that moment. So we get him to Eastern Animal Hospital, and they immediately took him in the back and did what they do best. Levi is a miracle because the stick missed all his organs Thank God. So he had emergency surgery to remove the stick and make sure it didn't do anything internally. The surgery was a success, and he came home the next day (May 17th). Of course, he is on heavy antibiotics and pain meds. The doctors said he is a very lucky cat and that he probably used 7 out of his 9 lives. Lol.

Of course, he isn't in the clear yet. We have to watch for any infections or other difficulties that can arise from a traumatic event like that. He has been doing great and went for his check-up on Tuesday (May 20th). So today, we noticed that Levi has developed some kind of cyst or whatever from where the stick was poking from on his right side. It is tender to the touch. We called his doctor, and they want him to come back in to get checked, but we unfortunately have absolutely no money. We owe the vet $4,200. I understand that is a lot of money to ask for, so I'm not asking for help for the entire bill, but if you can help with anything, it would be truly appreciated. Levi is an amazing cat and incredibly lucky to have survived that type of accident.
