Justin & Betsy were expecting twins this summer.
Due to some unforeseen issues during the pregnancy, they were forced to deliver their babies 17wks early.
They welcomed twin boys Levi John Howard and Liam John David to this world on 5/8/21!! Unfortunately, Levi was called home to be with the Lord 3 days later.
Liam remains in the NICU at Magee hospital fighting for his life.
To my medical friends/colleagues, he has a Grade 4 hemorrhage on the left side of his brain and Grade 2 on the right. No shunt or tap yet, but he is having regular ultrasounds monitoring the bleed and ventricle swelling. He is vented on 37% O2 with PEEP of 12 and on an oscillator. Currently trying to wean him off the oscillator and wean down the PEEP in case he needs tap. He has been stable thus far and we need prayers that he continues to remain stable as they wean his vent and also that swelling in his brain continues to improve. He has a long way to go, but the power of prayer is remarkable!
Please keep Justin and Betsy in your thoughts and prayers as these new, first time parents are having to grieve the unexpected loss of their son Levi, plan a funeral for a newborn, heal from emergent C-section, all while finding the power to remain strong physically, mentally, & emotionally and keeping their faith while Liam continues to fight for his precious little life!
Justin and Betsy have been at the hospital every day since April. Their lives have been turned completely upside down. They just recently began sharing their story with their friends and loved ones. They have asked for no hand outs, no financial aid, no help in anyway other than prayer.
My husband and I have taken it upon ourselves (with the approval from the couple) to start this GoFundMe page for Justin, Betsy, Levi, & Liam. They have a long road ahead of them, and while life continues to go on for the rest of us, they need to be present for their son Liam and be able to grieve and mourn their son Levi during this time. Medical expenses, funeral expenses, work life, PTO, insurance, meals are not top priority right now despite the reality that these items will eventually creep up. If you are able to give any monetary donation to this cause, it would be deeply appreciated. We understand that with the COVID 19 pandemic, times are hard and people are still recovering and we would not be asking if it were not for such an important cause. Think of this as a movement, a step in the right direction on bringing more humanity and humility to this world. We all could use a little extra love in our lives. And if you find you are unable to donate, any and all extra prayers or spreading the word by sharing this link would be just as appreciated!!!
