Levi Buxman’s Leukemia Fight
Donation protected
On Sunday, November 5th 2023, Lauren and Branden Buxman received devastating news that their oldest son Levi was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
This diagnosis was wildly unexpected and sudden. Levi had been at urgent care for pneumonia when the care team recommended they transfer to Akron Children’s Hospital for further testing and he was diagnosed later that night. Levi is currently inpatient in the pediatric ICU at Akron Children’s Main Campus and will later be transferred to the oncology wing for the next three months during the most intensive phase of his treatment.
Lauren will be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house in Akron, but the family is still 45 minutes away from the hospital. Levi has two younger brothers, Graham and Boyd, that are at home. They will need lots of support during this time to continue caring for Levi in Akron and the little boys in Smithville.
Levi is a typical nine year old boy who loves music, the outdoors, playing games on the Nintendo Switch, making people laugh, and loving Jesus and his family. His Down Syndrome diagnosis at birth has brought a wonderful community into our lives and he has taught us all so much about kindness, friendship, and unending love.
We truly believe in Levi’s resiliency. From the moment Levi came into this world, he fought to be a part of it. He has face a NICU stay as an infant, open heart surgery, multiple hospital stays, eye surgery, and so much more. He needs your prayers in this new challenge, and we need him. We’re coming together now to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time for Lauren and Branden.
While there are still many unknowns about what will come next in the future of Levi’s care, it will be a long road ahead with treatment plan taking approximately 2.5 years. Our donations can help the Buxman family face this next face with some of the financial burdens eased.
Contributions will go toward the wide range of costs that come with this illness, such as medical and caregiving bills, travel expenses for trips between home and the hospital, and caring for Graham and Boyd at home in Smithville.
The Buxman’s have always been an unwavering source of strength and support for each other and the people that they love; this is our chance to show them the same selfless care that they gives so freely to others. Please join us in our efforts to make this journey even a fraction easier, and to ensure that Branden and Lauren can focus on what’s truly important: Levi’s recovery and their beautiful family.
A little bit about the Buxman Family: Branden grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and Lauren in Orrville, Ohio. Lauren and Branden met while at college at Ohio University and were married in 2010. Branden is a commercial airline pilot with Spirit Airlines and Lauren left her job in IS at the JM Smucker Company to stay home with her sons and live her dream of homesteading. Lauren and Branden lived in Wooster for a few years until moving out to Smithville where Levi attends school. Levi was born in 2014 and turned their worlds upside down. A few years later in 2019 Graham was born, and Boyd was born in 2022. They are members at West Hill Baptist Church in Wooster, they’re a part of the North Canton Down Syndrome community, and are very involved in the Wayne County community (they are often found at Que Pasa Mexican restaurant in Orrville — Levi’s favorite).
Every donation is automatically transferred to their account, I am just the organizer.
