Leveling Up the (Re)thinking Faith Podcast

Hi friends, my name is Josh Patterson and I am the founder/host of the (Re)thinking Faith Podcast.

(Re)thinking Faith launched its inaugural episode on October 10, 2018 under its original name Theology Doesn't Suck. Over the past 5 years, the show has shifted and grown, as my own faith has shifted and grown. I have had the privilege of hosting the show with 3 different cohosts and have engaged with leading scholars in the fields of theology, biblical studies, philosophy and more.

This podcast has always been a passion project for me. I have enjoyed the task of taking on the biggest questions of the faith, reading the books, and interviewing the authors. I have enjoyed sharing my own story and have been blown away by the response of those who have found the show helpful over the years. (Re)thinking Faith has afforded me the opportunity to make new friends, build an awesome network, be a guest on other podcasts, speak at various events, and meet some amazing listeners.

So far the success (Re)thinking Faith has had can fully be attributed to the listenership and word of mouth. I have never paid for any advertising or marketing. I have paid for all of my podcast expenses out of pocket and ultimately have only ever lost money doing this podcast. Recently, I launched a Patreon and have managed to gather 16 faithful Patrons who support the show each month.

With the 5-year anniversary of (Re)thinking Faith approaching, I decided that perhaps now is the time to try and level this thing up. I have recently been working with a consulting agency to aid me in making (Re)thinking Faith all that it can be. As you can imagine, a consulting agency is not free, and neither are the resources and tools I will need in order to level up the podcast.

This fundraising campaign will go directly to paying the consulting company and purchasing the tools and equipment necessary for leveling up the podcast. With the help of your donations, I will be able to offer more content, new types of content, and new opportunities for in-person or digital engagement with listeners.
