Levée de fonds : Skikda face à la COVID-19

Bonjour,

Comme vous le savez, la pandémie en Algérie prend de nouvelles proportions chaque jour et dépasse de très loin les capacités du système de santé du pays.

À Skikda, l’hôpital est en manque criant d’équipements et les hospitalisations se multiplient quotidiennement. L’objectif de cette levée de fonds est d’offrir à l’établissement les outils nécessaires permettant aux professionnels de la santé de traiter les patients et de limiter les morts évitables dûs au manque de capacité. La situation des feux de forêts en Algérie touche maintenant lourdement la wilaya de Skikda et dans un contexte pandémique, tout porte à croire que les événements de la dernière semaine seront suivis d'une hausse des cas de COVID-19; hausse à laquelle l'hôpital ne sera pas en mesure de répondre. Le tout est aggravé par le manque de ressources qui se rendent à la wilaya.

Partenaires impliqués dans la levée de fonds

L'association Bariq21 a été impliquée dans la réponse contre la COVID-19 depuis le début de la pandémie. Leur contribution à consister, entre autres, à la :

• distribution de repas pour le personnel de l'hôpital;
• installation de désinfectant à mains dans les milieux publics de la ville
• approvisionnement en eau de l'hôpital de Skikda

Plus récemment, l'association a également soutenu les forces militaires déployées pour contenir les feux de forêts, entre autres, en leur distribuant de l'eau fraiche durant leurs fonctions. Pour toutes ces raisons et pour bien d'autres, nous avons confiance en l'association et en son dévouement pour la présente cause.

Mécanisme de transparence établi dans le contexte de la levée de fonds

Soucieux d'offrir la plus grande transparence dans le cadre de cette levée de fonds, nous nous engageons à prendre les mesures suivantes pour vous permettre d'efficacement retracer l'allocation du montant amassé :

• Nous fournirons des factures indiquant le matériel acheté.
• Nous prendrons des photos et des vidéos de la livraison du matériel à l'hôpital de Skikda.
• Nous partagerons une déclaration du directeur de l'hôpital accusant réception du matériel présenté dans les factures.

Le devis préliminaire offert par la compagnie algérienne « Rouiba Material Médical » permet de déterminer qu'un montant estimé de 1 106 000 Dinars (environ 10 300$ CAD) permettrait de couvrir les coûts relatifs à :

• 500 Masques KN95/FFP2
• 30 Manomètres
• 30 Masques VNI
• 50 Masques à réservoir.

L’objectif premier de la levée de fonds est donc d’amasser un montant de 10 300$. Ceci étant dit, dans la mesure où un montant supérieur à cette somme est ramassé, les fonds seront attribués pour couvrir les coûts d'une plus grande quantité d’équipements.

La levée de fonds prendra fin le 23 août 2021. Nous appelons à la générosité de la diaspora, notre pays à besoin de nous!

As you are aware, the pandemic in Algeria is taking on new proportions every day and is far exceeding the capacities of the country's health system.

In Skikda, the hospital is in desperate need of equipment and hospitalizations are increasing daily. The objective of this fundraising is to provide the facility with the necessary tools to enable health professionals to treat patients and limit avoidable deaths arising from a lack of capacity. The situation of the Algerian forest fires is now heavily affecting the wilaya of Skikda and in a pandemic context, all expectations are that the events of the last week will be followed by an increase in cases of COVID-19; an increase that the hospital will not be able to handle. This is further exacerbated by the lack of resources coming to the wilaya.

Partners involved in the fundraising effort

First, the Algerian-Canadian administrators of this fundraiser are :

Then, the local partner who works on the ground and who will ensure the effective allocation of funds is :

• The Bariq21 association of Skikda (reachable at [email redacted])

The Bariq21 association has been involved in the response to COVID-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic. Their contribution has consisted, among other things, in the :

• distribution of meals for the hospital staff and patients
• installation of hand sanitizers in public areas of the city
• supplying water to the hospital in Skikda

More recently, the association has also supported the military forces deployed to contain the forest fires by distributing fresh water to them during their duties. For all these reasons and many others, we trust the association and its dedication to this cause.

Transparency mechanisms established in the context of fundraising

In order to provide the utmost transparency in the context of this fundraiser, we are committed to taking the following measures to allow you to effectively track the allocation of the amount raised:

• We will provide invoices showing the materials purchased.
• We will take photos and videos of the delivery of the equipment to the hospital in Skikda.
• We will share a statement from the director of the hospital acknowledging receipt of the material presented in the invoices.

The preliminary estimate offered by the Algerian company "Rouiba Material Médical" allows us to determine that an estimated amount of 1 106 000 Dinars (about 10 300$ CAD) would cover the costs related to :

• 500 KN95/FFP2 masks
• 30 Manometers
• 30 NIV masks
• 50 Reservoir masks.

The primary objective of the fundraiser is therefore to raise $10,300. That being said, if more than this amount is raised, the funds will be allocated to cover the cost of more equipment.

The fundraiser will end on August 23, 2021. We are asking for the generosity of the diaspora, our country needs us!
