Leukemia Treatment Expenses and Support

On December 5, 2020, my sister Lareina (35 years old) was diagnosed with a rapidly moving form of Leukemia (blood cancer). She was immediately hospitalized and shortly after transferred from French Hospital in San Luis Obispo to Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto this week for an undetermined amount of time. Tests are still being run to determine the type and severity of her condition, but in the meantime, she has been given blood transfusions and platelets and soon will be given chemotherapy treatment.

Due to COVID restrictions, there is a one-person limit to who is allowed to be in the hospital with her. My father will be the one to be by her side and will be out of work for the time being. My sister will also be out of work for the length of her treatment which is still undetermined. This news was unexpected and neither my sister nor father are financially prepared. Insurance does not fully cover medical expenses and additional expenses such as gas, housing, and meals.

My family is extremely grateful for any support that can be given as we are aware that many are struggling financially during this time as well.

Thank you for the love and support you have provided Lareina and our family.
