Leukaemia Support Fund for Lara and Paddy

Hello, I'm Kerry Lawless. Five years ago my beautiful sister Lara fought a massive battle against the odds with cancer, specifically Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)....and won! Last week we were all devastated to learn it has returned. A few months short of her 1st wedding anniversary Lara now has to undertake 3 separate rounds of aggressive and intensive chemotherapy. Following this uphill battle she will then face into the Mt. Everest of a Stem Cell Transplant. This is an extremely complex procedure. In total this will necessitate a monumentally challenging 9 months of intensive medical care, at the very least.

Lara and Paddy, her warrior of a husband, have both spent the last few years working in the landscaping business. They get up at 5am, go out to do hard physical work in all weathers, and usually collapse into bed before 8pm. Despite their best efforts money has been an ongoing source of stress, even with two incomes. With Lara now out of work for the foreseeable future, I am starting this fundraiser for both of them without their knowledge. Paddy may kill me! But while we can't help treat Lara's cancer, together we can powerfully help with the other huge challenge they are facing, the financial one.

I am hoping that those of you lucky enough to know Lara and/or Paddy (and those of you who may not) will help them get through the next year by donating here. Rent is the primary expense that needs covering but there will be many additional expenses now. Hospital parking alone costs €2.40 per hour and that adds up VERY quickly. Paddy will not be able to cover everything no matter how much overtime he intends to do! The most valuable overtime for Paddy now is by his new bride's hospital bedside. Let's pull together and support this devoted couple in a way that will have the maximum impact ie. financially.
