My name is Angelica McEwan and I am a multi hyphenate latinx artist.

I am a fearless creator. I am a poet. I am a writer/actor/producer. I am the eldest sister of three. I am a Libra.

But most importantly,

I am…

a Lover Girl.

This story is for those who feel too much. For those who give unforgivingly, unwaveringly, unabashedly. In a way that is ultimate and free...

I was always aware of the fact that I saw the world a little differently to most, but I was never able to pinpoint what it was exactly; because, so long as I had my sisters and my mom next to me, I was okay, despite any adversity that came my way. It wasn’t until when my grandma passed, in 2019, that I realized that I felt, saw, heard, and experienced the world at a level deeper than the average person. To me: a touch is a blow, a sound is a noise, a misfortune is a tragedy, a joy is an ecstasy, a friend is a lover, a lover is a god, and failure is death*.

I like to observe. I like to listen. I like to be immersed in all that is around me because there was always more to take in.

The older I got, the harder it became to manage my endless love for life, for existing, for all the new people i met, for every friendship i formed, for every word shared with me. From friendships, to relationships, to anything in between, my heart yearned to feel safety, which landed me in places that were not always so welcoming. I will never forget the day I was crying to my mother about a heartbreak I had just experienced, and she held my face in her hands and said, “Angelica, you love too much, you give a lot. You put your whole heart into everything and everyone. Your expectations of the world are too high”. I didn't understand this.

So, I began to write. And write. And write and write and write poetry. With my words, I hope to share with you the frequencies at which I love. Because, man, do I enjoy loving unforgivingly.

With my poetry and my story times, I’ve created this one-person show to give you a glimpse into what is constantly occurring in my head. NYC is no small feat, but she sure as hell gives content that can't help but make you cry and laugh at the same time. My new play is an exploration into the ways in which I navigate my everyday life. It’s gritty, it’s anxious, and most excitedly, I pour my heart out with all the energy I have inside. I could explode into glitter each day that I start brand new, and I can’t wait for you to take some of the magic with home you. With a live band sharing the stage with me, I want this night to be an unforgettable experience-- and this is where I need your help. Your funds will help me take my story from the page to reality on stage. We hope to raise enough money to pay our crew fairly, cover the costs of the creative team, and lastly, cover the fees for the infamous overpriced rental costs of a venue.

Angelica McEwan is an actor, producer, and writer. Originally from Miami, she attended New World School of the Arts for acting, and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a BFA in Acting. She is now based in NYC and is so happy to be making her mark in this city of dreamers.
